In Remembrance of Others

We brave the weather

To come together

In remembrance of others

As two minutes of silence smothers

And memories break free

Whether it be of “He” or “She”

A family member gone

Leaving us to move on

With just a picture and a thought

For those who have fought

In defence of our land

By their own free hand

Not bowing to fascism

Fighting against terrorism

Becoming just a name

Not asking for any fame

Doing their piece

To create a world of peace

So, the eleventh of November

Is time to remember

To honour those who died

In battles worldwide

Lives lost to warfare

Sacrifice so many still bear

This day does remind and recall

The devastation that did befall

Whether military or civilian

In death tolls in the millions

That is why we do commemorate

And celebrate the date

Eleventh of the eleventh

Lest we never forget its relevance
