If I was a Love Poet

If I was a love poet
my words would embrace
every reader’s soul
filling their minds with grace

If I was a love poet
my words would flutter
making your heart stop
and start like a stutter

If I was a love poet
my words would serenade
in a pleasurable duet
and a valentine parade

If I was a love poet
my words would be strawberries
for your chocolate dip,
both opposites and contemporaries

If I was a love poet
my words would spell
your name in soft clouds
as they form and swell

If I was a love poet
my words would hypnotise
creating a world of desire
as our lips harmonise

If I was a love poet
my words would eroticise
what my mind does fantasize
spilling forth as panted sighs

If I was a love poet
my words would lay as a kiss
upon your silken skin,
time lingered in bliss

If I was a love poet
my words would end in I DO!
painting a future of me
entwined holding you

If I was a love poet
my words would last forever
through life and death
our immortal tether

Oh, if I was a love poet
how lucky I would be
my words, my endearment
for all to openly see

But sadly, I am no love poet
and all these words, I write
are clearly just misguided
for I am no Shakespearean playwright
